More information about India
Traveling to the Indian Himalayas means immersing yourself in an experience of absolute purity and silence.
The Rumtse–Korzok trek via Yalung La crosses one of the most spectacular and least-traveled regions of Ladakh, moving through remote villages, nomadic herders, and multicolored mountains that shift with the light.
The itinerary begins in Leh (3,500 m), the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Ladakh, where you’ll visit the monasteries of Thiksey and Shey before starting the acclimatization process. Over ten days, the route crosses five passes above 4,900 m, including Yalung La (5,400 m), the highest point of the trek, from where you can admire the majestic Tso Moriri Lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
Along the way, you’ll camp beside rivers and nomadic settlements, sharing space with families who live from herding yaks and pashmina goats. Nights are spent in organized camps, with spacious tents, expedition-style cooking, hot meals, and full logistical support (porters, guides, and pack animals).
The landscapes of the Changthang — the western extension of the Tibetan Plateau — are truly unique: ochre-colored valleys, high-altitude deserts, and turquoise lakes that mirror the Himalayan sky. It is an isolated region, inhabited only by monks, herders, and yak caravans, making it one of the last refuges of the Buddhist culture of historic Tibet.
The trek is designed for travelers with good physical conditioning and previous mountain experience, as you’ll be walking between 10 and 14 km per day at high altitude. Progressive acclimatization, rest days, and the availability of oxygen and satellite communication ensure safety and comfort throughout the journey.
Beyond the physical adventure, Ladakh offers a profound spiritual experience. The prayer flags, the monasteries, and the serenity of the landscape inspire calm and inner connection. This journey blends sport, culture, and natural meditation in one of the most remote places on the planet.
The best time to travel is from July to September, when the passes are free of snow and nomadic life flourishes in the high valleys.
It includes accommodation in Leh, camping during the trek, full meals, private transportation, porters, and local permits.
It does not include international flights, travel insurance, or personal gear, but our team will assist you every step of the way.
India is a journey into the soul of the Himalayas: a traverse through sacred mountains, ancestral culture, and absolute silence.
