Why visit Turkey?
Explore Turkey from its highest summit: Mount Ararat (5,137 m), the mythical mountain of Noah's Ark.
It is a high-altitude trekking voyage without major technical difficulties, ideal for your first 5,000 m peak, with progressive acclimatization, comfortable camps, and full logistics (mules, cook, and multilingual local guide). You will sleep at Camp 1 (3,300 m) and Camp 2 (4,200 m) before the summit attack at dawn, enjoying infinite panoramic views of the Caucasus and the Anatolian plateau. The cultural base camp is in Doğubayazıt, the gateway to Turkish Kurdistan, where we conclude with a cultural tour to understand life on the border. Best season: June–September.

More information about Turkey
The Ararat program is designed so you only have to focus on trekking and enjoying the journey. Arrival in Iğdır (transfer 1 h included) or Van (2 h 30 min, with a small supplement) and night in a 3-star hotel in Doğubayazıt. From the village of Eli (2,200 m) we begin the approach to Camp 1 (3,300 m); the next day, active acclimatization ascending towards Camp 2 and descending to sleep at C1. We then ascend and sleep at Camp 2 (4,200 m) to attack the summit at dawn (crampons depending on conditions), descending back to C2 and C1. We reserve a contingency day for weather and close with a cultural tour in the region.

The logistics are included: internal transfers, 3 nights in a hotel with breakfast in Doğubayazıt, double tents on the mountain, full board at high altitude, bottled water at the camps, cook, mules (up to 20 kg per person), official ascension permit, and local guide who speaks Spanish, Turkish, English, and Kurdish. At the camps, you will have solar panels for charging devices. If you need gear (crampons/ice axe), it can be rented at the destination.

Level and Season. It is a high-altitude trekking voyage: the demand is more physical than technical. It is advisable to be accustomed to altitude gain of ∼1,300 m positive on the summit day with a light pack. The best weather window is June–September for snow and weather stability.

In summary: Ararat is the perfect gateway to the five-thousanders—accessible, comprehensive, and culturally unique—with safety and attention to detail at every stage.
