Itinerary - Panoramic Trekking in the Dolomites of Cortina

Things to Know from Panoramic Trekking in the Dolomites of Cortina

This panoramic trekking is a circular hiking adventure from hut to hut based in Cortina d’Ampezzo, designed for those who want to see the best of the Dolomites, linking viewpoints and iconic landscapes via panoramic trails.

You will walk through the Tofane, Nuvolau and Croda da Lago groups, on varied terrain dominated by alpine meadows above the tree line (approx. 1900–2300 m), with great open views almost all the time.

The highest point of the itinerary is reached near Lagazuoi (almost 2800 m), a spectacular natural balcony. Here, in addition to the panoramas, the landscape preserves a very present historical legacy: trenches, tunnels, military refuges and fortifications of the First World War, especially in the Passo Falzarego area.

The route includes two lakes with their own character: the small Lago Limedes, with one of the best views towards Tofane, and Lago Federa, more remote from the more crowded routes and with a calm and quiet atmosphere much appreciated during the high season.

You will sleep in mountain refuges with good service levels (accommodation and meals), which allows you to enjoy the trek with a lighter backpack. Also, in Cortina you will have hotel nights before and after the trek, with the option to store luggage there that you don’t need during the route.

The itinerary is technically accessible: it requires no technical equipment and is designed for people with normal physical condition. If you want an extra, you can complement the experience with day trips from Cortina, such as Tre Cime or Lago Sorapis (optional).
