A reality that hurts
Every year, porters in the Himalayas and Karakoram suffer dozens of accidents because they work without equipment or technical training. They are the invisible driving force of high-altitude tourism, yet they lack the basic knowledge to protect themselves.
The mission of B4Experience and the NGO Sarabastall
Refurbished laptops with all content 100% offline.
Since 2022 we have been building the first digital outdoor training platform: 21 courses, more than 500 videos and 600 multiple-choice questions endorsed by five universities and featuring the Pou brothers, Pau Capell and Jordi Tosas— among other prominent figures in the mountain world.
Now we take the next step:
- Refurbished laptops with all content 100% offline.
- Videos dubbed and subtitled in English thanks to the Ministry of Tourism’s “Last Mile” program.
- Testing system to measure and validate the learning of porters.
Next stop: Drifika 6.470m (October 2025)
From October 10th to 30th, during the expedition guided by Jordi Tosas, we will deliver the equipment in the Huse Valley (gateway to the Karakoram) and we will also record a specific course for porters in collaboration with local Pakistani guides.
The goal: to create a self-sufficient model that will remain in the region long after we leave.
In 2022, the NGO Sarabastall turned Pakistan’s remote Huse Valley into a benchmark for alpine safety by installing the first portable mountain training classroom. For two weeks, expert guides led intensive workshops and practical drills that have already trained more than eighty local porters, drastically reducing accidents on routes to K2. The program also created a community network of instructors to continue training autonomously and generate safer, better-paying jobs.
How can you help?
Action | Impact |
---|---|
Donate a laptop that you no longer use | Several porters access vital training |
Spread the word about the initiative in your club or company | You multiply the call effect |
Join the solidarity trekking | You will learn about the project on the ground |
Join the expedition | Experience your first six thousand and deliver the material in person |
Results we seek
- Reducing the accident rate among porters on high-mountain routes.
- Offer safer and better-paid job opportunities.
- Weaving a network of continuous learning managed by the local community itself.
Join us in making sure that next season, porters climb not only higher, but smarter and safer — bringing knowledge and security with every step.
