Itinerary CLIMB K2
We carry out an in-depth interview to assess your technical and physical level and to be able to adjust the best strategy based on your budget and availability.
We will validate this knowledge with a short 1 or 2 day activity in the Alps or the Pyrenees.
We will carry out a specific 3-day campus to learn all the technical knowledge necessary to climb an 8000m. Crossing crevasses, climbing fixed ropes, use of crampons and ice axe on icy terrain, managing clothing and footwear at very low temperatures, high altitude camps…
Together and based on the exact assessment we can make of your skills after the camp, we will propose a training plan and challenges and climbs to undertake so that you can arrive at the expedition with the greatest possible guarantees.
We will monitor your training weekly and all your activities monthly.
If we consider that you do not have the minimum level to safely face the expedition, we will propose previous activities to improve your physical, technical and mental level to face an eight-thousander.
Arrival to Islamabad. Transfer to the hotel. Free afternoon.
Free day in Islamabad. Briefing at Ministry of Tourism. Meeting with Liaison Officer.
In the morning, transfer to the airport and 1-hour flight to Skardu. In case of bad weather, ground transportation to Chila by jeep will be provided.
Day free at Skardu or drive from Chilas to Skardu (8-10 hrs)
Free Day at Skardu for final preparation. The last place to check or buy technical equipment for the expedition.
Drive by jeep from Skardu to Askole (6-7 hrs). The last inhabitance on our way to the Great Glaciers.
Trek to the Dumurdo River crossing at Jhula, where a traditional rope bridge supported by a wooden basket was once used. Nowadays, a wooden bridge has been built to make the crossing easier.
Distance: 20.7Km / Elevation: +500 -400 / Time: 8-9h
Trek to Paiyu, a green oasis along the Braldu River under the shadow of Paiju Peak (6610 m), involves a series of ascents and descents on the right bank of the river. This route offers impressive views of Baltoro South, the towering Cathedral Peaks, and a distant glimpse of the K2 triangle. We will camp in Paiyu with the stunning Cathedral Towers as our backdrop.
Distance: 16,6Km / Elevation: +600 -375 / Time: 5-7h
Free day at Paiyu (3600 m) for rest and acclimatization, offering time to enjoy the surrounding landscape.
Start the trek to Urdukus with an early morning departure, heading towards Khuburtze. This 8-9 hour journey involves a gradual ascent along the southern edge of the Baltoro Glacier, mostly following the crest of the lateral moraine. For the first time, we’ll step onto the glacier, initially traversing its left side before moving to the right amid large crevasses. The route is manageable, as the glacier is covered with rocks and sediment, making crampons unnecessary. Along the way, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Paiyu Peak, Chorichi, the Trango group—including the iconic Trango Tower (6,363 m)—and Uli Biaho (6,417 m). We’ll set up camp at Khuburtze (4,200 m), with the impressive views of Trango Towers, Uli Biaho, and the distant Broad Peak (8,051 m), the 12th highest mountain on Earth.
Distance: 15,9Km / Elevation: +1.100 -460 / Time: 8-9h
We’ll continue trekking along the icy Baltoro Glacier, now moving through its central section. The first hour involves navigating challenging side crevasses, but the path becomes smoother and easier in the middle. Along the way, we’ll cross two lateral glaciers descending from the north face of Masherbrum (K1, 7,821 m), with views of Gasherbrum IV (7,925 m) and Broad Peak in the distance. We’ll stop for lunch at Goro I before reaching our campsite at Goro II, set in the center of the glacier at 4,500 meters, where we’ll spend the night on the ice.
Distance: 12,4Km / Elevation: +500 -275 / Time: 4-5h
After an early breakfast, we’ll embark on a 5-6 hour trek along the Baltoro Glacier towards Concordia, a major junction of the Baltoro, Abruzzi, and Godwin Austen glaciers at 4,700 meters. Along this spectacular route, the iconic peaks of the Karakoram reveal themselves like a natural gallery. To the left, we’ll see Mustagh Tower (7,776 m), followed by Crystal Peak (6,252 m) and Marble Peak (6,256 m), while to the right stands Mitre Peak (6,025 m). As we approach Concordia, the magnificent pyramid of K2 dominates the view. We’ll camp at Concordia with a breathtaking panorama of some of the world’s highest peaks.
Distance: 13,0Km / Elevation: +520 -220 / Time: 5-6h
It will take us 4 to 5 hours to walk to K2 base camp. Our home for the next month.
Climb K2: The number of days required will depend on weather conditions, climbers’ fitness, and experience level. These days are reserved specifically for the ascent of K2.
Return to Askole or Hushe and drive to Skardu. If conditions allow, we’ll cross the Gondogoro Pass to reach Hushe, shortening the trek. Otherwise, we’ll retrace our route along the Baltoro Glacier back to K2 Base Camp and continue to Askole. Finally, we’ll be transferred to Skardu by jeep.
Day 45: Fly to Islamabad or drive to Chilas.
Day 46: Departure from Islamabad.
Day 47-50: Extra days in case of bad weather, etc. (contingency)

TOUR DETAILS CLIMB K2
THE GREAT CHALLENGE, CLIMB THE K2 (8,611mts.)
K2 is an expedition for those seeking extreme adventure and who have previously experienced mountaineering in the Himalayas. Despite being the second highest peak in the world, some climbers may underestimate the difficulties one must endure during the ascent, an excellent level of mountaineering experience is required.
We will not carry out a basic K2 program, without guarantees and acting only as simple intermediaries with the companies that have the logistics of the base, altitude and material camps in place.
Our Director, Jordi Tosas, a mountaineer with more than 30 years of experience in the Karakorum and the Himalayas, together with our entire team of multidisciplinary experts, will create a tailor-made, personal plan based on your experience to reach K2 with the greatest guarantees of success.
The ascent to the top of Mount K2 is considered more difficult than Everest due to its steepness and unpredictable weather. The expedition also lacks experienced Sherpas and there is a high risk of frequent avalanches. In fact, it’s a technical climb from day one that includes glacial ice, snow, and rock, regardless of route.
Our team has enough experience for preparation and advice to face either of the two paths with the greatest guarantee of success or even dream of larger projects through less explored routes.
OUR ENTIRE TEAM WILL CARRY OUT A TAILOR-MADE PLAN WITH ONE OBJECTIVE: TO REACH K2 WITH THE GREATEST SUMMIT OPTIONS.
This is a personal and private training and preparation plan for people who are clear about the challenge and costs involved in a project of such magnitude.
The best time to embark on an expedition to Mount K2 is from June to August. During this period, the weather conditions are optimal for climbing, with calmer winds, sunny days, and milder temperatures. The trail is particularly stunning in these months, offering breathtaking views of the towering massifs along the way. The landscape is alive with dense green forests, raging rivers, and streams, accompanied by the soothing sounds of birds and wildlife. The combination of favorable weather and natural beauty makes the journey to K2 even more remarkable during this season.
This is not just a regular climbing program, we elaborate a full strategy that can be multiyear to reach Mount K2 with the best guarantees for success and will include several training program and climbs to prepare yourself for the biggest challenge, climb to the Hard mountain of the World.
The costs of an K2 expedition can vary based on several factors, including group size, seasonal royalty and permit fees, the category of hotel accommodation, the number of Sherpas allocated, equipment needs, and the level of package customization. Because these factors can significantly influence the overall price, we prefer to discuss the details with our clients before providing a final cost estimate. For any information regarding your selected package, please feel free to contact B4Experience. We’re here to help you plan the perfect expedition.
We will check all the material together and in detail well in advance of the expedition.
