ITINERARY NORTHERN SAILBOAT
We meet at the port of Tromsø at 4:00 p.m. The crew will explain the boat, the safety routines on board and we will review the program for the week.
Our goal is to leave Tromsø that night, passing through Grøtsundet and having a beautiful view of the Lyngen Alps, bound for Skjervøy, hoping to start the trip with some Northern Lights!
After an exciting night of aurora hunting and hopefully a good night’s sleep, we started off easy and set sail after a hearty breakfast. Our goal is to get close to the herring spawning grounds and see our first whales!
Later, we sail to the town of Reinfjord, where they have a long history of fishing, and where we also spend the night. Maybe we can also catch some cod for dinner this afternoon?
Is it not possible to navigate the Alps, you say? This is the day we’ll prove you wrong by cruising the Lyngen Alps. This part of Norway offers spectacular fjords, sounds and mountains where your eyes will never be satisfied and you will want to see more, more, more of this.
After a good day of alpine sailing, hopefully with more whale watching, we’ll dock at Uløya pier. Here they have heated up the sauna and jacuzzi for us, so everything is ready for a swim in the sea under the stars!
The best part of this season, here in the north, is the changing and always beautiful light. Although we don’t see much sun in winter, the light we do get is often like an endless sunrise and sunset! Perfect for great photos and views of the landscape.
We will spend our last full day together exploring the archipelago north of Tromsø, where we aim to make landfall, hike, and enjoy a bonfire on the beach. We anchor away from the city lights, around Ringvassøya or Kvaløysundet, for our last night, hopefully with an aurora show in the sky!
Unfortunately, this is the day you will pack your bags and prepare to disembark. After breakfast, we sail for a couple of hours back to Tromsø. The trip will end at 3:00 p.m. at the latest. You will leave the ship with a heart full of unforgettable memories and some new friends.

TOUR DETAILS NORTHERN SAILBOAT
SAIL IN WINTER THROUGH THE NORWEGIAN FJORDS AMONG WHALES AND THE NORTHERN LIGHTS.
Northern Norway, and especially the area around Tromsø, are the epicenter of the Northern Lights. From Tromsø we sail towards Skjervøy, discovering small fishing villages and traveling through the snowy mountains to the sea of the Lyngen Alps.
These northern fjords are where the herring flocks arrive every year. These small fish attract large predators; orcas and humpback whales. Since the whales come to our coast to feed, it will be easier to find them where the herring are. In recent years, the main herring area has moved from Tromsø to Skjervøy, but no one knows exactly where the feeding frenzy will take place this year. Fortunately, we are ready to spend the necessary time in the sea to get to where the whales and herring are!
If that wasn’t enough, we also include cod fishing, beach bonfires, and a starlit Jacuzzi.
Do you have any doubt? Get in touch with the B4Experience team!
No sailing experience? No problem! Our adventures welcome everyone, from novices to seasoned sailors. Whether new or experienced, our trips cater to all levels.
We quickly transform beginners into sailors and offer experienced participants greater responsibilities. Our mainland journeys involve 44-50 foot boats navigating coastal and protected waters, with occasional open stretches for excitement. Routes adjust based on weather and conditions for a safe voyage.
Trips are not overly strenuous; rotating positions allow for both sailing and relaxation. Active engagement minimizes seasickness, which passes quickly if it occurs. Expect unpredictable weather, with strong winds and varied conditions in northern Norway and the Arctic. Be prepared for an unforgettable experience, embracing both calm and rough weather.
Navigation is almost always done inside the fjords, so we rarely encounter waves. We will carry out part of our sailing and all members of the group will be able to learn all the techniques and maneuvers on board.
Join our crew! No sailing experience needed, but you’ll learn a lot. Our expert skipper handles training and navigation. Whether you’re a novice or experienced, you’ll be challenged and achieve memorable experiences. First-timers will become sailors quickly, while experienced sailors will take on more responsibility. Participate in all tasks: helm, hoist sails, cook, clean, navigate, swim, gut fish, and more.

Food
The culinary experience is just as vital as setting the sails or taking the helm! Once aboard, the crew will assign guests into pairs, who will then take turns preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to a scheduled rota.
Worried about your cooking skills? Don’t be! A comprehensive menu plan for the entire voyage is already prepared, with all provisions stocked on board. This menu is adaptable, allowing flexibility based on daily activities—whether you catch fresh fish or if the more adventurous cooks want to try something new. The menu plan is supported by a detailed recipe book designed specifically for onboard cooking, with ingredients, quantities, and methods tailored to each meal. Cooking on board is more than just a necessity; it’s a key part of the sailing experience, fostering teamwork, confidence, and a shared appreciation for diverse culinary traditions.
The Itinerary explains what meals are included each day according to the program. If you have allergies or preferences, let us know on the registration form and we will take it into account.
We always recommend that you bring your own energy bars, nuts… so that you can eat while doing the activities.
You can each bring your own alcoholic beverages. (without problem)
Accommodation
The program provides accommodation in shared cabins. If you want a single cabin, please indicate this at the time of booking.
Sailboat
The sailboats are fully equipped with heating to be comfortable inside both when eating and sleeping. They also have a drying area to ensure that all the material is dry and warm before the next day.
We believe solo travelers should not have to pay more to travel so our group trips are designed for shared accommodation and do not involve a single supplement. Single travelers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip. Some of our Independent trips are designed differently and solo travelers on these itineraries must pay the single trip price.
