Ski and Sail is a trip for those who enjoy a challenge and want to experience something unique, wild and authentic, whether they are a beginner to ski mountaineering or an expert.
The ascents that we complete during our trips will be planned together, according to the group’s ability level, the weather and the general conditions. After our daily ascents, we set out for the next fjord and prepare for the next day. The luxury of having a ski guide on board also means that we will make the most of our time in the mountains; always from the security that a qualified and local guide offers us.
The Lofoten Islands are famous for their impressive and dreamy landscapes. There are ascents of all levels with routes from 700 to 1000 m of unevenness to be able to ski to the beach where our sailboat awaits us.
The 44- and 50-foot sailboats are specially equipped for winter sailing in these latitudes, with heating, a drying area for ski equipment, and duvets in all cabins. There is capacity for 6 / 7 people plus the captain and the mountain guide.

We have sailboats for Ski & Sail in the main areas of Northern Norway, the Lofoten peninsula, Tromsø, the Lyngen Alps… and the island of Svalbard. An area of pure and exceptional nature, with a thousand skiable options as we sail between them.
Day 1
We meet at 16:00 in the port of Svolvær. After installing and introducing ourselves, we will do a briefing on the safety and operation of the sailboat to guarantee maximum safety throughout the trip. We will leave in the direction of a small natural bay where we will spend the night anchored.
day 2
We have breakfast early and together with our ski guide and depending on the weather, the snow and the level of the group we will decide which peak to attack; we went ashore with the boat. Together with the guide, we will make a final decision on where to ski based on the weather, snow and wind conditions. We can choose among other options to ascend Higravtindan, Geitgaljertind, Austnesfjorden, Rundfjellet and Kvittind (these last two are more affordable peaks ideal for a first day of skiing). In the afternoon we will go to a nearby ski area.
Day 3
We stay in the same fjord (Austnesfjord) to adapt the second day of skiing to the level of demand of the group, always looking for the best snow in the area. One option is the Geitgaljen, one of the most spectacular and emblematic peaks in Lofoten. In the afternoon we will travel by sailboat sailing to the Trollfjorden fjord.
Day 4
If the conditions allow it, we will carry out an impressive activity to the top of the Trollfjorden (1,100m) by a single route accessible from a sailboat. An incredible descent to the beach, where we will have dinner around a campfire and those who want will bathe in the sea!
Day 5
First thing in the morning we will go skiing to Raftsundet. After skiing we will sail back to Svolvær. Maximum at 16:00 we will be back to the port of Svolvær. We are close to the airport and there is a bus that can take you without problems.
Extra days
Some of our sailboats carry out 7-day routes, so you can have two extra days of sailing and skiing. For full boats (minimum 6 people) the days of departure, the route and the duration of the trip can be customized. Do not hesitate to contact us.
This is an approximate route, depending on the weather, risk of avalanches and level of the group, it will be adapted to guarantee maximum safety and enjoyment of all participants at all times. We will adapt the meals to the ski route and the trips on the sailboat, some days we will have dinner while sailing and others just when we arrive from skiing or when we arrive at the mooring site for the next day. We will also combine skiing with other interesting activities such as sailing, cod fishing, or simply exploring the incredible landscapes of Lofoten, including the eternal sunsets and the Northern Lights (depending on the date).
Para este viaje de Ski and Sail se requiere un nivel correcto de esquí fuera pista y haber realizado anteriormente alguna actividad de esquí de travesía (randonnee / ski touring / backcountry skiing). En función del nivel físico y técnico de los participantes y de las condiciones de la nieve y la meteorología el guía de montaña adaptará las salidas para un máximo disfrute. No dudes en contactar con nosotros para evaluar conjuntamente si tienes el nivel de esquí adecuado.
La navegación se realiza casi siempre por el interior de los fiordos, por lo que rara vez nos encontramos oleaje. Realizaremos parte de nuestra navegación a vela y todos los miembros del grupo podrán aprender todas las técnicas y maniobras abordo.
Como profesionales de montaña no sólo buscamos el mayor disfrute, sino el mayor grado de seguridad posible durante las actividades. Para ello dispondremos de equipos personales de seguridad, comunicación y un botiquín suficiente. Se aconseja estar en posesión de un seguro de accidente y rescate (todo y que en Noruega los rescates son gratuitos). Es fundamental seguir las instrucciones del guía en todo momento para garantizar al máximo la seguridad del grupo. El primer día realizaremos prácticas de DVA para asegurar que todos disponen de los conocimientos suficientes para realizar la actividad.
El material de seguridad para navegar se entregará a la llegada y de la misma manera se realizará un briefing para garantizar la máxima seguridad durante todo el viaje.
Se facilitará un listado de material a los participantes. Aunque será muy parecido al material requerido para realizar actividades en Pirineo o Alpes. Es imprescindible disponer de DVA, pala y sonda.
Los veleros están completamente equipados con calefacción para estar cómodos en su interior tanto en las comidas como para dormir. También disponen de una zona de secadero para garantizar que antes de la siguiente esquiada todo el material está seco y caliente. Las comidas las realizaremos a bordo entre todos los miembros del grupo. Si tienes alergias o preferencias, háznoslo saber en el formulario de registro y lo tendremos en cuenta
La opción rápida es volar hasta Svolvær. Pero también puedes llegar en tren (Nordlandsbanen) hasta Bodø y el barco exprés (catamarán) o Hurtigruta (transbordador costero exprés) de Bodø a Lofoten.
La navegación a vela y el esquí de travesía son actividades respetuosas con el medio ambiente. Intentamos navegar todo lo que podemos y utilizamos el motor lo mínimo posible.
Los viajes de Ski & Sail tienen mucha demanda y a veces es difícil conseguir plazas si no reservas con un poco de antelación. Te animamos a reservar con la mayor antelación posible. Necesitamos un mínimo de 5 participantes registrados para realizar cada viaje. Si tenemos que cancelar, se le reembolsará o se le ofrecerá unirse a otro viaje. No reserves los vuelos hasta que te confirmemos de que disponemos de suficientes participantes.
