If we think of Madagascar, most of the population comes to mind: Baobabs, lemurs and vanilla. Madagascar is much more, a true natural paradise, with mountains and natural parks that seem to come out of a Disney movie to paradisiacal beaches. A mixture of cultures and people, being a strategic point of world trade in the past has left a rich, varied and very open culture. This trip will take you to the most emblematic places on the island with short walks and an easy level to end up relaxing on its beaches.
Day 1
Flight from the airport of origin to Madagascar.
day 2
Arrival at the airport of the capital, visa procedures, reception by the Spanish-speaking guide of IndigoBe and transfer to the Hotel. Brief briefing of the next stage, delivery of informative material and welcome gift.
Day 3
Breakfast and departure to the Andasibe National Park. Lunch (free) in the city of Moramanga and visit its lively market. Continuation to the Andasibe National Park. Installation in the Lodge. Presentation talk by the guide about our route in particular and about Madagascar in general.
Day 4
Breakfast and departure very early to the Analamazaotra National Park (within the Andasibe National Park) where we will make a walking visit of ± 4 hours, to observe the largest lemur on the island, the famous Indri-Indri. After lunch, walk through the small town of Andasibe and return to the lodge. At the scheduled time, night visit to the Private Reserve, in which we will appreciate various species of endemic and nocturnal fauna (a headlamp is essential).
Day 5
Very early breakfast and continuation to the Malagasy “Highlands” among a landscape of terraced rice fields, traveling along the famous RN7 highway. Free lunch in the city of Foie-gras, Behenjy, where we can taste various varieties of this exquisite delicacy. Continuation to Ambatolampy, to learn about the curious artisanal manufacture of aluminum pots. In the afternoon, arrival in the colonial city of Antsirabe and installation at the hotel.
Day 6
Breakfast and tour in Pousse-Pousse (similar to Indian rickshaws) to tour the historic center of this city from another time. Visit the Atsena Kely (small market), the Cathedral, the train station, as well as the countless buildings from the French colonial era. After the visit, departure to the capital of Malagasy crafts, Ambositra. Free visit to marquetry and silk shops. Free lunch. In the afternoon, arrival at Ranomafana National Park and accommodation at the hotel.
Day 7
Very early breakfast and walking tour of the Ranomafana National Park where we will take a walk of ± 4 hours. After lunch, panoramic view of the waterfall over the Namorona River. Continue to Sahambavy and its unique and famous tea plantations on the island.
Day 8
Breakfast and departure to Ranohira. Walk through the “old city” of Fianarantsoa and panoramic view of the city from the “Haute Ville”. Continuation to the town of Ambalavao, where we will visit the antemoro paper mill and the Anjà Nature Reserve, where we will easily see lemurs of the maki catta species, as well as chameleons and betsileo-South tombs (Hiking ± 01h30). Free lunch and continuation to the Isalo National Park. In this stage we end our journey through the highlands and begin our descent through the Malagasy savannah, desert landscapes and populations grown in the middle of nowhere.
Day 9
Breakfast and visit of the Isalo National Park (easy-medium level). Visit of the Nymphs waterfall, blue pool and black pool in the famous Namaza Canyon and the spectacular sunset from the “Isalo window”. Back to the hotel.
Day 10
Breakfast and departure to the famous town of Ilakaka, recognized for its sapphire mines and its “Far West” atmosphere. Visit of the sapphire mines, where we can observe the open-air work in these curious excavations. We will also visit the polishing and carving workshop for these stones, as well as an interesting showroom. Return to the hotel and visit on foot to the Bara de Mariany village (2-hour walk), return to the lodge and sunset from “Giorgio’s Windows”.
Day 11
Breakfast very early and route south, observing the famous Mahafaly tombs along the way – stone tombs with sculpted funerary stelae or paintings of animals, couples, scenes of daily life… They are almost always covered with skulls and horns of zebu – and being able to photograph the first baobabs in southern Malagasy before Sakaraha. We will also visit the Zombitse National Park, where we will take a simple 1h30 walk where we will be able to see lemurs of the Sifaka species (Propithecus Verreauxi), as well as chameleons and baobabs of the Adansonia Za species. Before reaching Tulear we will take a detour to visit the Monument to the Tropic of Capricorn. After lunch (free) transfer to the Reniala Reserve and its baobab forest. Visit on foot for 1 hour to observe these endemic trees of the island. Group transfer to the hotel of your choice.
Day 12
Breakfast and at the agreed time, transfer to Tuléar airport (without the assistance of a Spanish-speaking guide), domestic flight to the capital. Arrival in Antananarivo, reception in Spanish and transfer to the hotel.
Day 13
Breakfast and group transfer at 11:15 am to Ivato International Airport, to take the return flight. Entry into the airport at approximately 12:15 p.m. In the event that all members of the group return with the same airline company, the transfer schedules will be adjusted.
Day 14
Flight back to origin.
