The present is a carefully crafted and unique trip on the market that offers the famous and lesser known part of the South Icelandic Highlands combined with the must-haves of this country. For those looking for more than a conventional trip. This adventure breaks with traditional trips to Iceland, offering you a small group, photography workshops and professional accompaniment by Gemma Pla (TUCUTUN FOTOGRAFIA), an experienced mountain guide in Iceland, a 4×4 vehicle, activities every day and a single route.
Day 1
Our guide will welcome you and pick you up at Keflavík airport. Depending on the arrival time of your flight, we will tour the Reykjanes peninsula, known for its geothermal activity. We stayed at a hotel in the city of Keflavík, near the Fagradalsfjall volcano, the last to erupt in Iceland.
day 2
We wake up towards KERLINGARFJÖLL. In this place a little bit of everything awaits us: a 4×4 route to reach a very impressive volcanic area, where we will understand why Iceland is called the land of fire and ice. In our refuge today we have several treks to do and a reward of hot springs.
Shelter accommodation.
Day 3
Today we will visit the south coast, the area of Iceland with the most famous visits, such as the SELJALANSDFOSS waterfall (the waterfall that can be passed behind), SKÓGAFOSS, REYNISFJARA (basalt beach) and the famous 2010 volcano (Eyjafjallajökull). Our group will not be left alone with the typical visits to the area, our day hides many other waterfalls that we will visit. Our destiny moves away from the routes
conventional and we will enter the Thakgil valley. Accommodation in cabins
wood.
Day 4
On the fourth day of the route we will head towards the Vatnajökull National Park, where we will not only make different visits and excursions, but we will also enter a glacier tongue with crampons and an ice ax. This area is famous for its contrasts, since we can see and enjoy deserts of volcanic ash, glaciers, canyons,
waterfalls, lagoons with icebergs and large volcanoes. Accommodation in rural house.
Day 5
We return to the west to this time enter the highlands again, this time behind the famous volcano of 2010, the Eyjafjallajökull. We will cross several rivers until we reach the Thor Valley, better known as Thorsmork. In it we will make an excursion and several visits. Accommodation in a private shelter.
Day 6
Leaving Thorsmork we will make an excursion through the area and if the weather
accompanies we will go up to the source of a river which is thermal, we will take the opportunity to take a bath in the thermal waters of the river. In the afternoon we will head towards Reykjavik, where we will have the afternoon free to enjoy the capital. Hotel accommodation.
